A few games I have played through or started playing since I was last posting:

Chivalry: Modern Warfare - Incredibly fun first person PvP hack n slash.
Day Z mod for Arma 2 - I play this on occasion with a couple friends. I've never been too fond on zombie shooters, but this game is such a blast.
BioShock Series - I got Infinite for free with my new computer so I've been playing through the first two because I never played them. Eventually I will get through the whole series as it is a very good story.
Evoland - Not a very long game, but it was definitely one of the more fun games I've played in the last year.
Forge - I had a small stint with this game. I don't recommend it. Everyone just plays the assassin class and ganks each other. Probably the worst PvP I've ever played (and I was an MMO PvPer for a long time...).
Orcs Must Die! - This game is a load of fun. I'm trying to find a friend who enjoys it as well before I get into the second one.
Torchlight series - Played through the first one with a Vanquisher. I was so impressed with it, I bought the Torchlight II four pack and made friends play with me. We're still playing through the second and it is hands down the best action RPG I've ever played.
Overlord - I play this on occasion. It's a really fun sit back and relax style of game for me.
The Walking Dead (The one by TellTale) - While I hardly consider this a video game, the story is amazing. I'm anxiously awaiting season 2. The 400 Days DLC was a nice little hold-over though.
Fallen Enchantress - I played this one briefly. Maybe it's just not my style, but this game fucking sucks.
League of Legends - I play this casually with a couple friends who don't have the skill to play Dota 2.
Dota 2 - I have become totally addicted to this game. I play it on an almost daily basis, I spend my weekends watching tournaments (I even took three days off work so I can watch The International 3 in its entirety), and I spend most of my time not playing games reading/watching guides. There's just so much to learn and do, I think I have racked up more hours on this game in the last year than I did with WoW in over three years.

Other than that, I have been thinking about picking up CS:GO. It seems like a really fun game. I'm worried it would turn into another time eater for me, though, and Dota eats enough of my time currently.

Also, any word on the Steam Summer Sale yet?! It certainly feels like summer, but I don't have a giant fucking stack of games to add to my backlog yet...

Yeah, it's a pretty huge learning curve. I'm to the point where I understand a lot of the basic fundamentals and tactics (lane control, creep stacking, wave pulling and blocking, etc.), basic picking and counter picking, and what items are warranted in a lot of different situations, but I still have a long way to go before I even feel like I'm decent at the game.

Is that Civ 5 expansion pack already out?

You get it yet? Worth the 29 bucks or whatever steam is asking?

I haven't yet, as I really don't have time to play games right now. I'm in the middle of my six-week summer grad school session, writing my thesis, and trying to reorganize my house.

It's probably a good thing I forgot the CivV expansion pack was coming out this week. I wouldn't have gotten anything done this week. :p

The Steam summer sale is officially on!

    Not a bad first day.

Bioshock Infinite is the one that is severely tempting me at 50% off, $30. I can't comment on what it's like as a game because I haven't played it yet, but reviews were extremely positive.

Left 4 Dead 2 is once again available for $5 -- you really have no excuse not to own this one by now.

Hotline Miami is a good one to pick up at a mere $2.50. It's maybe 10 hours of gameplay, but that's ten hours of holycrapgogogokillthatguyohshithe'sgotashotgunnowyou'redead gameplay. Yeah, it's like that. Plenty of good entertainment to be more than worth the price of a cup of coffee.

Endless Space is 66% off, for $10.19. It's not bad at what it does -- I could best describe if as "Master of Orion For Dummies." If you felt like MoO or Galactic Civilizations was frustrating with all the fiddly micro-managing it had you do, Endless Space just might be the game for you. If, on the other hand, you want to control every last detail of your space empire, you may find it a bit shallow. They do continually release new content for it, which is pretty cool, and it just got it's first paid DLC, which looks to be more in line with what we used to call an expansion pack.

And rounding out the daily deals, Don't Starve is 40% off, going for $9. You could think of this as being a little bit like Minecraft, but without the blocks and where everything hates you. I commented previously on this game when I just started playing it, and my run was ended when I was viciously murdered by a tree. Yup.

Flash sales: Dragon Age and Skyrim are on right now. Neither one turned out to be my cup of tea, but they're good games for all of that. I just don't like games that level the NPCs to match you -- I feel like it breaks my sense of immersion a little when I encounter penniless highwaymen with implausibly badass weapons and armour. And CS:GO is is 75% off. Counterstrike releases are largely iterative in nature, but if you're a fan of the series you know that already. If you liked Counterstrike or Counterstrike: Source, $7.50 for the latest version isn't too bad.

EDIT: I say this for every Steam Sale but it's worth repeating. If the game you want isn't a daily deal or a flash sale, don't buy it until the last day of the sale. There are a lot of games marked 50, 60, 75% off right now, and many of those will get a deeper discount at some point during the sale. If you're concerned that you might miss out on buying your game of choice, add it to your wishlist. Steam will not email you when games on your wishlist go on sale, you you'll automatically get notified if/when it comes up as a daily or flash sale (this also has the side effect of making wishlists actually good for something).

bioshock infinite is a very fun game so far to me, but that 30$ seems a bit high for the summer sale. i got it for ~17 or 18 from a coupon on ebay. i'd wait it out as it can't stay that high for long. the others are spot on in terms of what martian said. i noticed they might put up dishonored for ~10$ in the next few hours and THAT would be a very nice buy for anyone that doesn't have it.

I wouldn't expect Bioshock Infinite to drop any further than it has. It's still a new release, and a AAA title. Half off is par for the course on those. If you want it cheaper you'll probably have to wait for the Holiday Sale.

It's possible that it will go to 66% ($20) on a flash sale, but I wouldn't count on it.

Fuck yes! It finally feels like summer!
    _____________

It's arguably the best game this year and released less than four months ago. I'm a little shocked they're able to offer 50% off. I don't see this going any lower during this sale.
    ______________

I've decided I'm buying CS:GO. I know nothing of CS and have never played any of them, but this game looks GOOD and for $5.00, I can't say no. I have a question though. Is CS:GO standalone or do I need the CS Complete pack to fully play this game?

I'll vouch for Hotline Miami as well. If you don't have it, at $2.50, you really should have it.

On the other hand, I caution those interested in Defiance. This game is really sub-par. It has very limited character creation, a very bland story, and really clunky mechanics. Unless you are obsessed with the show or something, even $13.50 seems like a rip off to me.
