    Car guys are kind of exotic to me. My father was a car guy, my uncle, brother and best friend are car guys, but all I really know about cars is the basics. My dad tried teaching me when he taught my brother, but I was more interested in gaming.

    Got a raise, was told it was roughly 40% higher than the raise given to the two others with my job description.
    Getting a bonus (roughly 5% of my gross base, so enough to supersize a couple lunches at least), was told I was the only one of us getting a bonus.


    On our review system you are rated 0-4 on factors of specific job responsibilities (for me things like sales volume, account management, etc.) and a few general categories (creativity, initiative, interactions with fellow employers, etc.). 2.0 is the baseline for "competent" and there is even a note on the form in italics saying "Please note that this rating is more than acceptable."

    0 = you suck, you might want to start thinking about resumes
    1 = you're getting by, but this area needs some work
    2 = good enough, keep your head down and no one will care either way
    3 = you're a rock star, can I have your autograph?
    4 = pretty sure you walk on water and people have been talking about your return for a couple thousand years


    I got a 3.45 overall. :cool:

    Needless to say, it's a nice way to spend the last day of work before a week off.

    I was more than happy. In the position that I'm in you are usually told to use your growth in commission (i.e. "get more sales") as a means to a raise. Base pay raises and extra bonuses are few and far between. So it was nice to be recognized.

    Just read this about the new Lone Ranger film - "The movie, critics say, is really more about Depp's Tonto than it is Hammer's lawyer - and eventual Lone Ranger - John Reid, which isn't a bad thing.:

    I have always particularly liked how John Reid is a Texas Marshall left for dead after the Cavendish gang ambush. But the first things that come to my mind instantly for the "Lone Ranger" are the names Earle Graser, Brace Beemer, and John Todd, and how good they were in their roles.

    Walking out the door in 20 mins for my motorcycle trip with my Pops. 1100 miles round trip, leaving today, one day in the middle to hang out with my brother and catch a game at PNC Park, then back home.

    Hope it stays a little drier than it looks like it may!
