Flasks: Who uses them? And do I need one?

    My husband has several flasks. His friends like to give them to him as gifts. He doesn't like hard liquor or mixed drinks, though, so they are pretty worthless. He can't get enough beer in a flask to make a difference. Sometimes he will put burbon in one but it doesn't get consumed for a year... My favorite is the one with Yosemite Falls etched into the stainless steel.

    My wife loves a Manhattan to relax with after work and whatnot so she travels with two small flasks; one each for Vermouth and Rye Whisky.

    They're cheap, sparkly souvenirs from Vegas and I'm going to get her a nicer pair as a present at some point.

    Personally I don't travel nearly as much as she does so I don't have much need.

    I want one, as opposed to I need one. :p

    For the same reasons as fresnelly 's wife. I travel, most often I stay in a Hampton or a Hilton Garden Inn. All Hamptons and some HGI's do not have bars. A nice bourbon on the rocks at the end if the day would be quite nice.

    Think I might do some shopping this weekend.

    Flasks are a convenient way to carry around a few drinks in a compact container. Sneaking in liquor is another story; if you get caught with a flask you're busted, but no security guard in the world will spot a fake colostomy bag full of Kahlua.

    I used to carry one, when I lived in California. In NYC, didn't.

    I had a nice silver one with leather cover.

    but now they have so many disposable types.

    There's no way of saying there's no alcohol in it.

    Underage ZombieSquirrel tried a lot of sneaky things. Drink down a bottle of OJ and then add some Tequila. I actually did that with a variety of juice bottles. Also just did Vodka in a water bottle...learned how to do that without breaking the seal on the water bottle.

    I have a couple of flasks that were given to me as gifts, one of them even came with a set of metal shotglasses. I usually only bring them out to weddings but they definitely saved the day.
