    CinnamonGirl The Cheat is GROUNDED!

The teaser trailer was just released today. I'll admit, I didn't know this was in the works (although they've apparently been working on it, on and off, since 2002.) I'm not sure why they chose to use a short of two non-main characters instead of anything story-related, but whatever. The reindeer (Sven) is cute.

The story is (very) loosely based on the Snow Queen fairy tale.

Voices include: Kristin Bell as Anna; Idina Menzel as Elsa; Jonathan Groff as Kristoff; Josh Gad as Olaf; Santino Fontana as Prince Hans; and Alan Tudyk (w00t!) as the Duke of Weselton.

I'm looking forward to this one. I adored Tangled, Brave, and Wreck-It Ralph, so I'm hoping this one holds the same appeal. It's scheduled for a November release, like pretty much EVERY OTHER SINGLE MOVIE I'm waiting for this year...ahem, sorry.

Are you planning on seeing this? Have you heard anything else about the movie? The imdb message boards (which are scary places, and should normally be avoided at all costs) are full of people complaining that this is basically just "Tangled, but in the mountains." The main characters DO have similar features, but then, so do a lot of Disney princesses. Thoughts?

I haven't heard of this, but I usually stay on top of Disney things!

To me, the cast looks awesome. I have a major soft spot for Kristin Bell.

Teaser trailer is interesting, to me, it's very Ice Age and the guy with the acorn. We'll see!

I was most excited to see Alan Tudyk...love him! Idina Menzel is totally rad, too.

Hmmm...I haven't seen Ice Age, but someone else mentioned a similarity. I'll have to check that out.

Found these today. Anna and Elsa:

Haven't heard of it... I did think the trailer was amusing though. Probably the type of movie I could see myself taking my family to.

This entire cast means little to nothing to me by name alone. I have heard of Kristen Bell but a check on IMDB board for her previous work was getting mostly blank stares from me; things like Veronica Mars I have never seen and/or know nothing about.
Sounds like something I might check out on Netflix. Brave will probably be in that category as well; the red headed archer looked interesting in the posters for the movie at least.

  6. I thought it was going to be an adventure about 'Disneys Frozen Head'. I was trying to imagine what had prompted it to be in the news.
Have to agree, Sven is a cutie - its the power of Disney.

Ha! That made me giggle. I also admit that, after creating the thread, I had visions of Disney World encased in a glacier.

Here's another movie image I found floating around. Looks like Mr. Kristoff is a bit grumpy.

    Thread bump!

I saw this right after Christmas, and I really, really liked it. I still don't think the songs are as memorable as the '90s Disney era, but that's probably because I grew up with Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, and the Little Mermaid (had I seen Frozen when I was nine, I would probably think much, much differently.)

This one, however...is amazing. I love Idina Menzel's voice, and the animation here is pretty fantastic:

Olaf (the snowman) kind of irritated me, but I understand why he was there. And without giving too much away, I like how Disney kind of made fun of itself with the twist on Anna and Hans.

Speaking of, here's a clip of their duet together, although not as high quality:

I'll be honest, I'm thinking of being Elsa for Haloween next year :D

Hey, now. I'm sure the movie is great and shit, but let's not jump to any early decisions!

    Wait until Maleficent comes out.

You might want to be Maleficent.

I might want you to be Maleficent.

    You should be Maleficent.... :p

Sleeping Beauty is my favorite old-school Disney animated movie. I think buying an Elsa wig would be easier than trying to come up with a Maleficent headpiece, though. Maybe. Hmmm.

I could always do both for DragonCon :)

What an unfortunate time of year for this movie to be out.

Ha, right? Granted, it's been out for...ummm...a month, I think? I totally tried singing the refrain from "Let It Go" while I was emptying the dogs earlier.... "the cold never bothered me anyway." It didn't help as much as I hoped it would.

Speaking of the songs, my only real criticism of the movie is that it was an almost-musical. The songs were nice enough but it's like they really didn't commit to making it a full musical so they felt tacked on to me.

I really enjoyed plot twists and how they broke through the usual Princess and Romance tropes.

I was dragged to it by my daughter.

I thought the film was pretty weak. Not as strong as Brave.

They promo'ed the crap out of the snowman, Olaf? My daughter thought he would be the main character. But she is 5 and loved all the princess-y stuff more anyway, but it did seem kinda like a bait-n-switch.

That's kind of odd. I mean, they're up for an Oscar for best song, so that's pretty cool, and I think the rest of the music was more or less on par with previous Disney films. It's no less a musical than, say, the Lion King.

They're also up for best animated film. I haven't seen all of the contenders but I don't think Despicable Me 2 is quite at the same level as Frozen, personally.

I liked it, but not as much as Brave, and nowhere near as much as Tangled.

I did like that Disney finally challenged the "you need a man/prince to save you" thing, but overall I wasn't a huge fan. My boyfriend liked it more than I did.
