Food What are you drinking right now?

I'm back on drinking matcha in the morning instead of coffee, and I couldn't be happier about it.

...with a Korean green tea chaser.

 

That's an interesting blend. I've never been sold on mate. I've heard good things and bad things about it.

Another good replacement for coffee is a proper Irish breakfast tea, especially if you like milk and sugar.

 

Irish breakfast tea can be hard to find. The next best thing is English breakfast or, if you want to go hardcore, just straight-up Assam tea. The main difference between the two breakfast blends is their ratio of Assam to other teas (Ceylon and sometimes others). Irish breakfast tends to have a higher ratio of Assam tea. I've had straight Assam tea before. It's very malty, and it practically begs to have something added to it.

I'd like to consider any coffee at this point a treat. It's not something I want to drink daily. A latte here, an espresso there...sure. But two to four cups of French press coffee a day? I don't want to do that. (I know, I know: I've said this two or three times before. Coffee, your the devil!)

That said, there's this awesome cafe nearby that I don't go to often enough. They make just about anything. I think Starbucks can too, but it's not on the menu like this place. Plus you might catch some Starbucks baristas off-guard if you order something that people don't normally ask for. This place? It's on the damn menu. It includes Turkish coffee (which I've always been meaning to try).

I gotta stop going to Starbucks just because it's Starbucks. Seriously. This place is right there in the same area I always go to when I want to browse books and stuff.

Now I'm into a chai made with rooibos base.

 

Perrier. My tummy is upset and the bubbles always seem to help.
