    So...

Is it normal to be a little crazy?

Is it crazy to be normal?

I've made no secrets in this community about my insanity. It's because of the members of this community that I am still on this side of the dirt. I hospitalized myself after a suicidal depression brought me to my breaking point. I don't ever want to go back to that kind of darkness, so I make sure I don't.

  7. I have my moments. Some things are learned behaviors from my mother (who has bipolar disorder), some developed on my own; some are cries for attention, some are as (what I call) a punishment to myself for unforgivable acts of idiocy, some seemed to develop completely out of nowhere and for no reason. I'm proud to say that I'm starting to climb back up the hill, but I still have my moments.

That being said, normalcy is completely overrated.

To me "normal" is an insult.

  10. I've DATED crazy chicks before. A few years ago , my ex stabbed my right hand with her keys while I was driving. Swerved and parked the car. Got out, pulled her out of the car. Got back in and drove off. Said to myself "Nope. Not me. NOT dealing with that shit."
I can't even remember the argument that led to that. But that was just batshit crazy.

Me? Crazy? Yes. A little. But more than that, I pride myself in being manipulative and smart, which put together makes me a little evil.

I've had my fair share of crazy, though. An old friend of mine, with a constant need for attention and is possibly a closet homosexual who is too scared to admit it to himself, was responsible for most of it. Years ago, with a group of friends at my house that happened to include him, he complained about another friend "intentionally" forgetting to ask him to come out to the backyard with the rest of us, an apparently grievous offense that resulted in my over dramatic friend making us wait half an hour for him to muster up the courage to lower himself from the roof of my house to a plastic playhouse belonging to my much younger sibling. Just one example, though I put up with him, because he's always got a lot of his mind, possibly with some kind of depression.

I think many people are just stupid, not mentally ill. Dunno what that DSM-IV says about straight-up stupidity, though.

The United States is a country that has major issues with anybody that has been identified with a mental illness.

Depressed as a teenager? Crazy. Hard time dealing with a divorce? Crazy. Ever seen a shrink? Crazy.

So, since I don't want to lose my job... no, I'm not crazy. And, no, nothing bad has ever happened to me. Ever.

If you ask: I get up, drink coffee, go to work for 9 hours, get home and watch as much TeeVee as I can before I pass out.

Listen, the brain is a complicated thing...sometimes it misfires.
It's just that some misfire more than others.

And sometimes it's not a person per se...but how to deal with others' quirks.
Or conflicts of reality vs. desires.

    Then there's people's expectations...logical, unrealistic or otherwise...keeping to a mold.
Ex. Wearing a tie makes people listen more intently to your argument. Does this make you any more wise? No it's a friggin' cloth around your neck.

Then there's just differences in people...just like one's trash is another's treasure,
    One's insanity is another's normal...and vice versa.

It's not what you think. It's how you act. It's how you deal.

The rest is just bullshit fuckin' with your head.
But that's unfortunately something we all have to deal with.

    "Normal" is a myth.

    "Crazy" is a misnomer.

No one should take the word "insanity" seriously anymore.

    Well, it's all relative.
I think "Normal" should be more like "typical"...meaning a good measure of people tend to do something this way in this area, but there's nothing wrong otherwise.

Crazy and Insane is when an personality becomes destructive. (either to others or themselves)

This may be permanent and incurable...this could be temporary and curable.
It could be consistent ...this could be intermittent and/or triggered by certain things.

Most "normal" people feel like they are going crazy when they are overwhelmed by certain things.
Or if they've picked up a habit to deal with things.
    And this can be anything...

The real problem is this, people judge.
If it isn't something they do...or the group they are with does...then they call this "not" normal.

If most people treated their real lives and interaction as they do with the web...for the most part, something of no consequence and opinions taken with a grain of salt (or they should)
then there would be a lot less drama and worry.
What do you care what other people think? And why beat yourself up that much?
Think to yourself...does it REALLY matter?

Let go...you'll find that your "crazy" goes away a lot faster.

But there ARE crazy/insane people out there...I've experienced them.
You just have to be wary...help if you can, get help if you need.
However, this is rare in truth.

Crazy - yip I think I might just be! It's crazy I've spent goodness only knows how many years pretending to be 'normal'.

Only just realising that I should just be myself - which would be normal - only in trying to be normal I'd become crazy!

"Typical" is just as useful as "normal" (i.e., not very), and "crazy" and "insane" aren't useful in a clinical or therapeutic sense.

To say such things is to speak in generalisms, tongue-in-cheek, or colloquially.

Trying to be "normal" will only frustrate people. They'll either assume it's an unachievable ideal or will have an otherwise skewed view of what it means. Either way, it will lead to a delusional view. There is no such thing as "normal" beyond what's relative to an individual. That is, unless you're referring to conforming to a societal norm, in which case that will also be relative, but in a much wider sense. What's normal in 21st century America, for example, is different than what was normal in Nazi Germany. (Godwin'd!) And then you consider what's normal in the Bible Belt vs. what's normal in, say, oh, I don't know, San Francisco.

But even people you'd consider "normal" have issues. We all do. What varies is how people handle things. People also tend to have good days and bad days. Some days you might consider them "normal," but this state of "normalcy" is unlikely to be cut in stone.

"Crazy" and "insane" only really work as slang-like umbrella terms for mental health or behavioural issues. They can also refer to people doing stupid things after a lapse in judgement. They can mean anything.

As you can see, speaking in such terms is too loosey-goosey.

Some people would say I am crazy. I'd disagree with them.

I'm just a little hard to understand as a whole, is all.
