Shrimp dipped first in egg wash, then in a mixture of Dijon mustard and curry powder, then dipped in quinoa and lightly fried.

    Fresh corn with basil butter.

    Pinot Grigio....chilled.

    Want some?

I now want to eat my monitor. Clear liquids. What fun.
Between the grilled vegetables, quinoa-crusted shrimp, and the french bread, I'm salivating.

The red sauce I put on 5 hours ago and some spinach-artichoke spaghetti noodles. Sauce is heaven. I don't care if it kills me.

As the offspring of two Italian-American families, I couldn't agree more, noodle.

20 tomatoes, roughly chopped and gutted
    1/4 yellow pepper, diced
    1 Carrot, microplaned
    1/2 vidalia sweet onion, diced
    1/2 serrano pepper, finely diced
oregano, basil, fresh garlic, kosher salt, cracked pepper, whatever other spices sounded good.
cooked down for 2.5 hours, pulsed with immersion blender.
Tossed in almost browned (and drained) hot italian sausage and 1/4 lb lean ground beef, and five chopped baby bellas sauteed in garlic, onion, and seasonings.
    Cooked down another 2.5 hours.
Served over pasta with a sprinkle of kosher salt.

Makes my Italian heart smile, noodle. I have fond memories of my mother simmering the sauce (a.k.a "gravy" in these parts) for hours on Sundays.

I usually have leeks and fresh basil/herbs, but the cleaning lady was here for almost 5 hours instead of just one, so I didn't get to go to the store.
That and driving across town while recovering from the brevital was a negatory.
I'm 98% german, but my comfort foods are all tomato-based. I learned to make my own gravy about seven years ago. People love it.
Hubs also makes meatballs and DOC pizza dough... put them together, and it's heaven. the house smells clean and totally awesome now.

I'm living vicariously trough you at the moment. My wife makes the meatballs (and she's Scottish!) and I make the gravy at our house. Pure heaven.

  18. Didn't feel like going to the store, tried an experiment; Can of Cream of Mushroom Soup and a cup of rice.

    WAY TOO MUCH RICE. Oops.

I've been nomming on the leftover rice for the past few hours, but the original mixture was delicious.
