I should probably stop looking at pictures of Benedict Cumberbatch before I faint, my nose starts bleeding, or I melt into a giant pile of ladygoo.

It's Saturday afternoon, and I'm sitting out on my balcony with my laptop and a cup of tea. I honestly can't think of anything else I'd rather be doing right now.

I got my other raised bed planted. Two pepper plants, three tomatoes, one cucumber, two zucchini. Yes, I realize I am tempting the zucchini gods, but I am confident in my ability to keep up with zukes.

Heading downtown to the fringe festival. Why do I get such a thrill from solitary adventures these days? The road trip, my trips downtown to go dancing...my other adventures. Maybe because virtually every moment of my life since about the age of 16 up until the last two years revolved around my companionship with another person? Perhaps because by nature I am a loner? I'm excited about going to the festival, enjoying a couple of beers and walking around, looking at people. It's getting dark soon or I'd take my camera...not that I feel like lugging it around anyway.

I understand that. I'm looking forward to navigating from Portland to Toronto and back alone this summer.

No problem spouting off Rogue...sounds like quite the process. And I know exactly what you are talking about. I haven't been on the end of trying to convince exectutives to purchase products but I've worked quite a bit with the people, like yourself, that have a vision to improve the company and are facing stiff resistance. Especially anything that is government, government controlled or government funded. Good luck on getting them through, I'm sure the ROI after the fact will have them laughing but you have to convince them to spend the money up front to get the return later.

Actually, that's always my starting argument. Always show them the money first. Make that a moot point, if not a winning point, out the gate.
You'll save yourself a lot of heart-ache, get the cheap bastards to STFU and leverage the visionaries to help.

While the implementation is a bit, it actually isn't that much when taking into what we're paying for the original. (5 times the annual of the new)
Then I show the increases of productivity, with even the CFO stating aloud that they can easily see a 3 hour task can now be done in 15 minutes.

After that it's proving the world is round...that it can do what I say it does, 100% transition of what we do now...and then some.
And dragging the horses to water & making them drink somehow. ("I don't like the GUI", "I don't want to migrate", "It doesn't do it ALL out of the box")

Fortunately for me, I've got some leverage from the CEO who hates CostPoint with its cost and inflexibility
and he's an ex-programmer who understands where I'm going with it...so when I make a request for validation, he tells them to jump. (C-level execs )
But I had to make the case to him first...and he's a salty old dog. ("What is this crap??!!)

I always take the mindset that I need to save or make the company my salary each year, otherwise I'm a charity case.
But that's a minimal...I always do more, at least 5 fold to 20 fold.

Sorry all, this ain't this "pointless" anymore...but you know me.

Drink beer and have a good time. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed my first solo vacation to Vegas. I had more fun running around looking at everything and most likely will go on my next future vacation alone. No one to slow me down.
    ---

Went for a 2 mile jog in the first time in a year without listening to music or using a gps watch to track my mileage. It was slightly more enjoyable than stressing out over how many minutes over or under I am per mile.

Way ahead of you. Already celebrated. I meant other than that. I don't want to overexert myself.

    It's clear liquids only Sunday.
Tomorrow I'm being violated by a mad scientist who couldn't remember that he'd already been in to my exam room 4 minutes before. Hopefully there will be a few answers.

In other news, Jello makes some interesting flavors. Apricot is not half bad... But Island Pineapple reminds me of bizarre marshmallow and jello salad from my childhood.

I'd never seen him act before yesterday, when I saw Star Trek Into Darkness. He was fantastic and he made an awesome villain. I was seriously impressed.

You would think you could shake the cops by the 100 mile mark. They just don't understand the absolute NEED to drive at 145 MPH.

It might say something when you can almost kind of ignore a pained right shoulder with something along the lines of -
"My shoulder? Well, I can walk just fine because both knees are behaving right now and is just my right side so that makes it a damn minor thing then."

I've just made the delightful discovery that I can access episodes of Sherlock through Amazon. I'll be checking them out.
