then, dutifully, i stopped by the stop sign. when i tried to put the fallen aristicrat-mobile into gear, the shift lever went limp. it would not engage nor would it fail to engage. it did not engage at all. it just waved about. waved about it did. i sat by the stop sign. i appeared to be taking it literally.

In that area, people like their Community Coffee. One of the better aspects of the place.

CinnamonGirl knows, it's really good coffee. And cheap when you're there. Outside of LA it's sold like gourmet coffee...at gourmet prices.

Nah, you do get used to it, just like you get used to the bay smell. I grew up in a town north of Seattle surrounded by dairy farms and mud flats. My elementary school was right next to one of the biggest dairy farms in the county. The mud flats were on the other side of the dairy farm. Stinky, sure, but now it smells like home.

    Yes please.

I'm very tolerant of people's children for the most part except for a few places. I'll even go as far as say I'm okay with them at a fine dining establishment. This past weekend I had a server at Buca di Beppo tell us to stop letting the children run around as other patrons complained. The look on the servers face was tepid to ready to flinch as she told us to get them to stop running around. Hey they weren't my children and after that it was license for me to tell the parents that were with us that the children were bothering other patrons.

I'm not very tolerant at a movie theater or broadway show. I don't go to the movies/theater all that often due to the high costs. At the prices we have to pay today to see a movie or broadway shows, I want it to not be interrupted by people talking on their cellphones or rambunctious children.

I wouldn't take an infant to a movie but, in a restaurant, I'm a little less sympathetic to people who are bothered by children. Children are not always going to be perfect. Neither are adults. Doesn't mean that people who have them and who are paying the same price as anyone else to have dinner should never go out with them. Granted, there are parents who let their kids run wild and scream without taking control of the situation (talking to them or taking them outside) but they are the minority. A modicum of rambunctiousness is both normal and healthy in a child. People ought to be tolerant and not think so much that a restaurant experience is their experience. It's a community experience.

    I don't either.

Yep that's why I prefer to dine where they don't have a kids menu and serve icky tasting things according to children :)

It's a community experience I agree. I just don't think that loud obnoxious adults or crying children need to always be part of my experience. In a crowded city, they can be part of your experience quite often.
