I learned early on in my career that if you intend on "keeping up with the poets" on a night out, you had better eat a large dinner and not have any plans the next day.

You know, that's almost the case. :( It would be the case if it weren't for other creative writers, like fictioneers, and publishers/editors and other people who work in the literary publishing scene.

Everyone else is pretty much afraid of poetry. Like, literally afraid.

But not a good afraid, like with horror films. Those things make money. Without grants even!

I've learned this afternoon that I have the leg length of a 6'3" dude.

I am going to consider this a point of pride.

Lauren Bacall in her younger years looked better than any of these current stars, and she has aged very well. I think that Dorothy Lamour ranks up right up there as well. If I was picking a star in her early 20's(ish) age I would nominate Lillian Gish in the 1915-1920 range. Anyways never mind me, your post brought to mind an era (1910-1950's) I am especially biased toward in both films and film stars.
