That's better, but it's still high. If the meds you are on aren't working, they should modify your regimen. Blood pressure was the last thing we were studying in pharmacology before the break. There are many options and combinations of options out there for controlling blood pressure and it's so critically important to your health to do so (in combination with a good diet and exercise). Uncontrolled high blood pressure takes a very significant toll on your heart and kidneys. Don't mean to lecture you, but I guess I am. You can't let that one slide, because it won't let you slide.

You're good mixedmedia you're right. Its normally never that high. I take altace and atenelol for my bp. Its just stress lately that's making it this high. I'm just glad you care. I know I need to watch it espically since I've already had one heart attack. The next one might not be so nice to me

Thanks for your words of wisdom, mixedmedia. I do not wish to lose another beloved forum member so soon after the last.

ralphie250 , I like you bunches. Tho our heart problems are different (heart attack versus heart failure) 'stress' is never gonna go away as there is happy stress ( new job, new kid, new house etc) and bad stress,. I know life is extra stressful for you right now. It can all take a toll on you.
Medications do help as you know, but lifestyle changes can help very significantly. I won't lecture beyond saying that you have, with any luck, many more years to manage your health. Since my brush with death, I've struggled 15 years to keep at exercise ( I'd give myself B- minus on that) eating right and keeping my weight down. The weight down part is by far the hardest but it's such a big deal to the health of a heart patient. Right now, Im doing OK but since my mom died 2 years ago, I've slipped and my current weight has put me on heart med. #4. I'm mad at myself but all I can do is keep trying. Things are headed in the right direction now-- I 'just' have to stick with it. Please keep trying.

Pardon me, I haven't seen the sun since Tuesday. Seriously, not even a peek. Someone called it "nuclear winter" this week.

Fangirl mixedmedia the hardest part I have with eating healthy is 1 I don't eat breakfast 2 I don't eat a lot for lunch 3 dinner is small and 4 I eat late at night (eat late normally cause either I want sex and she says no or I'm bored and it gives me something to do.) I don't exercise at all. Just a lot of walking and on my feet all day at work. I have gained 25 pounds in the last 2 months just due to stress and it is taking its toll on me mentally and physically and in my home life. Just being honest...

Stress is a killer, seriously. My BP went through the roof a few years back. My father was dying, my mother was battling cancer and I was getting zip help from other family members. I was trying to be a social worker for my parents from 3500 miles away while family living in the same town, a couple within 15 mins didn't have time to lend a hand. It was maddening and I too found myself eating poorly and not exercising. I looked in the mirror one morning and it struck me that I looked as if I'd aged 10 yrs in a matter of mere weeks. I decided I wouldn't be any help to anyone else if I didn't take care of myself. Basically I guess what I'm saying is I think I understand where you're coming from. The only thing that work for me was making a commitment to care for myself an hour a day. No phones, other then one emergency number that would ring through, no TV, no computer. I'd spend that hour either walking, stretching, lifting weights or just plain relaxing etc... I found I was able to turn things around quickly. I felt extremely better within a week and was able to handle the stress better. Not only did my stress level decrease I found myself craving healthier foods, the more fruits and veggies I ate the more I wanted them. That worked for me maybe it would help you?

I also think it's VERY important to see your GP about your BP. The number you posted isn't that high but over time that will take a toll on your body. If you're not on meds to reduce it he/she may put you on some. If so make sure you take them and keep taking them. Too many folks ignore high BP since it really doesn't have in your face symptoms but everything I've read is it can be literally killing you from within and you don't want that. People care about you and the best way to show you care about them is to ensure you're caring for yourself as well.

"General Physician" or "General Practitioner" depending on where you're from, I think. Basically it's your family doctor.
