Facebook thinks I may know Margaret Atwood and is suggesting I add her as a friend.

WHOOO! False alarm. Hubs is coming down with some kind of stomach thing. GI stuff is always tricksy like that.

I wish I knew Margaret Atwood. Oryx and Crake and The Flood are two of my favorite dystopian novels.

  13. After a three day build up by the local newsies, the storm totally missed metro Detroit. I'm not complaining about that, but these clueless forecasters are getting tiresome.

Wait, you didn't like A Handmaid's Tale as much? (I haven't read the two you listed.)

I almost know Margaret Atwood, I think. Also, I once pissed next to Michael Ondaatje.

There's always the dude who stops you all paranoid and asks: what are you taking pictures of? And when you answer: just the back of this building here, it looks interesting....long pause.....it's my hobby. And they look at you like you just said that in pig latin. Never fails.

Watching High School Musical again with the Rifftrax MP3 (only way you can watch it) and it has me seriously considering buying a pastry torch and working on making Creme Brulee. Never have tried but it sounds like a useful skill to add to the kitchen resume.

Any time you can rationalize using a torch indoors should be considered a win. :p

Oh, I like it, but I like the world she's created in the Oryx and Crake and The Flood novels slightly more, and so they have an edge. Plus, because there are two books there is more time to explore the world and the characters.

    You don't need a torch--just a good broiler.

Good to know. I saw a double broiler listed on a recipe and I am missing one of those as well. I did see that torches are only in the $20 range and as Borla said anytime you can use those indoors should be considered a win.

Finally looked up Margaret Atwood and as I suspected I have never heard of her prior to that post a page or so back.
