Pointless Announcements

Always a pleasure to listen my vinly transfers and to hear that slight crackle from 30-50+ year old pressings. No doubt the "Top Hits of 1938" on 78 RPM in my transfer que is more like 70 years old, but those 78s are a great deal more work usually to remove excessive pops and hisses.
The few 8 tracks I have played in my collection sound like shit after only 30 some years, nowhere the durability of the vinyls; they went up in quality going from those to the smaller cassette tapes.

 

I hate Journey.
I hate many things.
But the Pick Up Your Dog Shit sign that appeared in our patch of grass today made me verrah happeh.

 

Sigh. You're all making me sad. Journey and REO Speedwagon lived in my cd player in 7th grade.

When two came riding up on their ten-speeds one day, wanting to spread the Word, my dad put them to work with my brother and I busting up bricks in our driveway, before he'd let them have their say.

I'm sorry. I know the USA was a bit of a musical wasteland in the 80s, so won't judge.

 

I know and like that music. Group like Pink Floyd (I can name two songs at most without the internet or a reference book) and The Who (theme song to CSI right?) are completely unknown to me for the most part. Oh wait fairly certain Roger Dalton is/was the lead singer for The Who.

Or rather there is some rocker out there with a name like that in one of those bands,I remember seeing him on an "older" episode of the BBC Top Gear recently. No real interest beyond the 30 second google search I just did.
Much more into Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Fats Waller, etc.
edit: Roger Daltrey. Remember that out of nowhere. Feel accomplished enough just getting the band right and lead singer almost right in this case.

Never could figure out where "South Detroit" is. In the river? Over in Windsor? And the only reason that song gets played around here is so the locals can scream that line at the top of their lungs. They then go back to drinking and ignore the rest of the song.
