    In case you're wondering: No, don't use the Normal (Web) setting in Word for your manuscript. I know it automatically separates your paragraphs into neat separate boxes like on websites or in self-published books, but just don't.

    Your manuscript should be free of text set in both bold and all-caps. This is a book manuscript, not 4chan.

    Also, exclamation marks in most instances are essentially little crutches for gimpy writing.

    edit: Using a seldom used font like Comic Sans MS is another great idea,right up there with writing about sparkly vampires and moping girls.
