Lance Armstrong to admit doping throughout his entire career.

Just now saw this on the ESPN ticker. The interview is Monday. Considering the sport, the mounting testimony of former teammates, an other recent evidence reported on, this is not shocking. But coming from someone who so smugly, and almost violently, denied he was anything but clean, I'm interested in how he will spin it.

The question will be if anyone cares at this point. We've kind of gotten PED fatigue, eh?

I lost interest at least a year ago.
    Lies, spin, rinse, repeat.
Who cares. I just go ride my bicycle.

Old news but I think this is more to bolster the ratings of OWN because she "got it" first.

Well, I think the timing is right, after the Baseball Hall of Fame announcement. He's in the same crowd as those guys because of the timing, and we certainly don't vilify them; I think we mostly just shake our heads sadly.

The only fake with a higher profile than Lance Armstrong right now is Oprah Winfrey, so it's a good match.

Given how Armstrong destroyed any number of those who testified against him, I think he is a massive dick. I would much prefer it if he just went away.

I too just like to ride my bicycle.

I used to think he was a pretty stand-up guy and used his celebrity for good. It's a shame to learn he's really one of the worst examples of sportsmanship and citizenship out there.

Actually I think that Lance is despicable, and I don't feel that way about the juicers in baseball.
Lance wasn't just doping, he was the guy running the doping operation.
And along the way he callously destroyed the careers of young riders just starting out in the sport. They won't ever get their chance back to be professional cyclists.

What does doping do to the body? Does it give you an edge or does it make you superhuman like steroids make you big.

It will be interesting to hear what he has to say; I just like to hear both sides.

q: if he was stripped of the titles, who then is listed as the winner for those years? do they get the compensation packages too or have to wait until the clawback is complete?

I am not 100%, but according to Wiki it just shows as "vacated". In fairness to Lance (not that he was fair to anyone else), I read an article a couple of months ago, I believe in Sports Illustrated, on the subject. It said that one year they'd have to go down to 23rd place or so to reach a cyclist that hadn't been in trouble at some point for PEDs.

As Borla noted, there aren't going to be declared winners for those years.
You might go far enough down the list to find someone "clean" but in all likelihood it just means they were so far out of the running that they were never vigorously tested.

  15. I know people who believe that if you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough to win. Personally, if I have to cheat to win, then I won't win.

Best joke so far: At least he had the ball to finally admit it.

they all do diff things and he took them all. cortisol helps with joint and muscle pain/sprains. the blood transfusion thing is where you take your own blood out so your body ramps up production of red blood cells then you re inject it. basically it allows your body to get more oxygen which obviously would help.

steroids and growth hormone it isn't so much that makes you get big muscles, it's that it speeds up the recovery process. so someone who lifts weights might have to wait a day or two to lift again, someone on these drugs can workout back to back days or even two or three times a day allowing for faster growth. for lance i suspect it was to help him recover faster from these grueling practice and races.

yeah there really is a big difference. these baseball dopers weren't total control freak assholes like lance obviously is. how do you sue someone who says you are doping? he said he sued more people than he can remember.

Despite what else it might do, it obviously gives you cancer. Lance has had it six times. And is just me who thinks the sane person would stop injecting himself after the first run in with it? Ok, easy to say one thing had nothing to do with the other. How about the second time? Relapse? Coincidence?

Sorry, but somewhere well before the sixth diagnosis I would have said, fuck the bicycling if it means I have to keep injecting myself with cancer in order to compete.

Glory hound - to his own detriment more than anyone else's.

  18. It seems that the eagles are circling above waiting to sue. His career really is nothing without the drugs. So after years of lying, cheating and bullying, he deserves to have every cent stripped from him. I heard he offered $5M compensation to someone. Thats like a bank robber have a choice in how much money he'd be willing to give back after being caught.
