I can't even handle how awesome Sam Spade is. I mean, I don't want to BE him, but he's pretty awesome.

I haven't read the Maltese Falcon, but I love the movie, and yes.

    Wow. Mind...? Blown.

Have you read the series from the start? Because if you were coming in on that novel, I could imagine it might not be as accessible. But having read the series from the start might help, because I think it's a terrific series of books. I like the character tremendously, and the author does a great job writing in the voice of the character.

Just finished reading, The Accord by Keith Brooke. The book is set in the future where we have created a digital space called, the Accord. It is a place where, once dead, our consciousness will be uploaded. Humans have created their own heaven. It's also a story of love, betrayal and obsession. I am not sure how much I liked the ending but the concept of the Accord itself and the way the author explores the many possibilities, is worth the read.

I'm close to finishing up Buddhism Plain and Simple by Steve Hagen. I first read this years ago, and it was among the first things I read on Buddhism. I'm finding a second reading very useful. It's a good refresher on the core nature of awareness.

I'll soon jump into the KJV Bible. It's sitting on my desk like a heavy weight. I'm really going to have to read it regularly in small doses, allowing for other reading, or I don't think I'll actually get through it. I've never gotten past the first few chapters of Genesis. I have a resolute purpose for reading this now, so maybe it will stick this time.

I'm going to get the Dalai Lama's Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World soon as well.

I'm also thinking of rereading Joyce's Dubliners soon too. I'm interested in reading more short stories now that the TFP Plotto Machine is under way.

A Memory of Light, the long-awaited final book in the Wheel of Time series. So far, not disappointing....

What? The series is wrapping up?

I might have to re-read the series. It was a fan of the earlier books but vowed to not read any more of them until the series was complete. That was around 15 years ago... I think.

I'm about halfway into The Radioactive Boy Scout: The Frightening True Story of a Teenage Whiz Kid and his Homemade Nuclear Reactor. It's quite interesting just for the little-known facts about early nuclear research. The main story is about a kid with too-little parental supervision who scraped the thorium from smoke detectors, and the tritium from gunsights and built a breeder reactor in his backyard shed. The reactor started pumping out 1000 times the radiation he was expecting, and by the time the EPA, FBI, AEC and NEST was finished, the reactor, shed and most of the backyard soil was buried in a containment facility under the Utah desert.

What to Expect the First Year
It's honestly terribly biased in some ways, but it does clearly lay out all the big milestones in an easy-to-read manner. I dislike reading the casual tone in most chapters, but I'm happy to have it as a reference all the same.

Feeding Baby Green is an excellent resource for pregnancy and baby nutrition. It goes from 1st trimester through toddler years and includes a number of delicious recipes. Its focus is encouraging your child to have a varied diet that includes a wide range of plant-based foods without encouraging vegetarianism specifically.

Just finished, Raymond E. Feist's "A Crown Imperiled"
28th in the series...supposedly 2nd to last...but we'll see, he's said this before. (and he's brought characters back to life...so nothing is permanent)

Going through, Tom Clancy's "Against all Enemies"
The Taliban and the Mexican Cartels hook up to ream the good ol' USA. (Oi Vey, that would be a nightmare)

And to pick up, Robert Jordan's last book, "A Memory of Light" (well post-mortem and with the help of a friend)
And last in the series (14 books...all very long...since 1990)
No more shrewish women from him. He must have had issues the way he wrote them...

Yeah I think when we get around to having kids I'll skip that one. My textbook on the subject is pretty awesome. I use it regularly.
