Bleh, who cares about lower health care costs. Obama is still a black Muslim socialist who wants to take our guns away.

Pfft, What do you think they did with Area 51 after they had to move all the ET's to Guam?

Lower health care costs??? Where? Who is getting lower health care costs? How much money have you saved since Obamacare passed?

Millions of seniors have saved hundreds of dollars last year on prescription drugs as a result of the ACA provision eliminating the donut hole.

Millions of covered employees have received rebates on premiums (either directly or through employer reductions) as a result of the ACA medical loss ratio and rate reviews.

Hundreds of thousands of children with pre-exisiting conditions now are required to be covered in employer based plans.

Millions of young adults (out of college, but unable to find a job yet) are able to stay on parents plan.

No one now faces a threat of bankruptcy as a result of ACA provision eliminating annual/lifetime limits.

And, this before the bulk of the law takes effect next year.

I have heard the talking points, I am now interested in actual real world experiences. I am paying about $100 more per month for my insurance compared to two years ago. My father is paying more for his Medicare Advantage plan, he has not realized any net savings. I don't know anyone in their 20's who has taken advantage of staying on their parents plan to save money, do you?

Is this your response to information you have difficulty believing? You go out running around your neighbourhood in an attempt to collect your own?

Yes. Is this a trick question or something?

Yes, I seek independent verification. Is this another trick question?

Are you a solipsist or merely an empiricist? In school, were you exempt from history and various sciences due to philosophical beliefs?

More of a scholasticist in the tradition of St. thomas Aquinas.

No, but I am pretty sure my grade was a C.

You mean the guy who sought arguments for things he concluded in advance?

    That's telling.

That's one way to look at it, but that is the guy and I do what you describe all the time. I prefer to call it reverse engineering. I am probably the only one who does, from your point of view.

That may explain the number of problems we have in our discussions. You assume a truth based on faith and then you attempt formulate arguments for why it's true. Problems arise when it's not actually true.

Nothing I think is based on faith. If I can not make an argument to fit my view, I admit it. But, you can bet I give it a hell of a try before admitting I am wrong - I think that is the real problem - very few match my will and often give up too soon, or simply get frustrated with questions.

Without faith, how do you conclude something before you have arguments supporting it?

I don't hold any views that I can not logically support. I acknowledge that I can be wrong, and I have often changed my views based on input or adustments in my logical arguments. On many issues I am either indifferent or an agnostic - either way I respect others when they use "faith" to justify their views - especially when they are honest about it.

The mandate that the rich should do their fair share??? It is nice to get away with being vague. Hell, even I agree with fairness.

When you can acknowledge data above ideology or faith, we can begin to have an honest discussion of the facts.

On the savings resulting from the ACA closing the Medicare donut hole, perhaps you can file a FOIA request to get the names of the 50,000+ seniors in NC who saved an average of $612 last year.
