I should note that I'm a little disappointed that the sale over at GOG doesn't include Baldur's Gate. All the more reason to buy the Enhanced Edition, I guess.

I played Dishonoured religiously on the PS3 when I bought it. Loved the feel and the style of gameplay where your actions influence the game dynamics. I want to get back into it later and play a game of non-lethal takedown to see if I can get a different ending. I'd be doing that now, except I'm playing through the Assassin's Creed games in anticipation of ACIII on christmas morning!

Apparently I own DOTA 2, claims Steam. What's confusing about this is I don't recall either purchasing it or having it gifted to me -- frankly it doesn't really look like my kind of game, though I suppose since I have somehow managed to accidentally acquire it I might give it a spin at some point.

Trying out a couple of HIB games this weekend. I finished my first playthrough of Borderlands 2, and I think I'm going to take a bit of time away before diving into playthrough 2. I also picked up the original Borderlands from the Steam sale, though I'm going to let that wait for a bit as well.

Eyeing XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which is a flash sale right now. On the one hand, I really want it. On the other hand, if I wait until summer I can probably do better than 33% off. Do I want to wait six months for that one? Or rather, am I willing to pay $30 to not have to?

    We'll see. Probably.

Speaking of the Steam sale, Limbo and Psychonauts are on sale for $2.50 each. Limbo's a flash sale, Psychonauts is a daily deal. It is literally a crime if you don't grab these two at that price. The bad decision police will come to your home, and arrest you.

I'm still playing Minecraft every now and then. I really enjoy that the player gets to choose what the game is from moment to moment. I can spend an evening (in-game) playing a fast-paced survival horror game, then when morning comes it becomes a creative sandbox. I can grind for XP, or I can go off and explore the huge map. I can collect all of the valuables I could ever want. It's really quite something, especially in multiplayer. It's like playing with Legos, come to think of it.

If I'm feeling nostalgic I'll go back and play Half Life 2, Episode 1, and Episode 2, or Portal and Portal 2. While I'm still holding out a fool's hope that HL3 will come out some day, I'm perfectly content playing Valve's classics. It's hard not to smile when playing Portal, I've found, and Ravenholm still gives me the willies.

I've been trying to find time to get back in Starcraft 2, but I've found that the system which matches players based on skill can be a bit temperamental. Often times I'm pitted against people who I can only assume are at a South Korean level of skill, for which I am not much of a match. The game itself is still amazing to me, as someone who played SC and Brood War for so long. The higher definition and improved graphics, the soundtrack, and even the gameplay are all simultaneously amazingly new but also familiar.

I keep hearing really good things about a Walking Dead tie-in game, mainly from the Jimquisition video podcast. Has anyone here had a chance to play it?

I'm assuming you're looking at the store page for DOTA 2 and seeing that it says that you own it and can download it. This is because everybody "owns" (has access to) the spectator client. It doesn't allow you to play. It only allows you to watch games, see the latest news and updates, and view the heroes and store...

Unless you did inadvertently sign up for the beta at some point and were accepted. This would also give you access to the DOTA 2 Test client in your library, though. If the test client is not in your library, you only have access to the spectator client.

That would explain it. I'm quite certain that I didn't sign up for the beta; like I said, it really doesn't look like my type of game.

Anyone play Saints Row the Third? They've got the full package on Steam with all add-ons and DLC for a little over seven bucks. Wondering if its a fun shootaround.

If you're a fan of the genre, I don't think you can really go wrong with Saints Row. It's a really solid game.

Plus, at less than $10.00, I'd be really surprised if you felt your money was wasted.

Worth the $7 so far just for the sheer absurdity of it all.

Don't know if this is the best thread for this but I couldn't find the DOTA 2 thread that I could swear existed and I don't think there's quite enough interest to warrant a whole new thread...

I currently have seven or eight DOTA 2 beta invites if anybody is interested in playing and doesn't want to pay $30.00 for early access.

I'm also very willing to help anyone interested learn the game (it does have a giant learning curve if you're unfamiliar) as long as we can sync up our schedules.

If anyone has any interest, send me a message with your Steam ID and I will get an invite to you.

100% agree - If you haven't seen FrankieonPC's videos they're worth watching just for the story - 23 episodes.

If you're going to buy FTL, buy it straight from the developers:

    FTL: Faster Than Light

It will activate on Steam regardless. I like Valve, but there's no reason for them to get a cut of this. It's a great game, show the devs some love.
