Craven Morehead I think a club in Chicago was the first to start that type of deal. Probably the same one the_jazz gets kicked out of on a nightly basis.

I'm on the fence as to whether it's a good thing. I mean, it shouldn't take things like that to get a person to donate to something, but on the other hand - boobs.

The Dollar Tree gives you the option of buying a toy for kids. I do it every time, but feel bad that it's only a crappy $1 toy. My office is doing something where they are collecting toys for a family. I'll get a better toy for that collection.

While I was at my local pet store, they were taking donations for dry cat food for the Humane Society. I asked if they needed kitten food, and the clerk said they probably did so I bought a bag of kitten food. This was 10 minutes after hormonal ZS cried because she wanted to take all the cats in the adoption area home with her.

DAMN IT. I just got teary eyed thinking about the kittens.

 

We always included our daughter, when picking our toys for children or other presents for seniors. It was a great lesson for her and made her part of the process. Another great idea: contributing to Christmas food baskets or even delivering them, if time permits. It can be extremely rewarding to help a family in need enjoy a healthy holiday meal.
