This. Met a close friend who was in town for a few days. The wife and I met him at David Burke's Primehouse, consistently my favorite place in Chicago.

Pics at the request of snowy, so blame her. ;)

A salmon sashimi thing they brought out for a free taste at the beginning of dinner.

Beef tenderloin cooked at the table on 500* Himalayan salt blocks. Also had some Ahi cooked the same way.

Kobe beef sashimi with shaved truffles and truffle mayo. Best appetizer anywhere ever. True story.

My wife's angry lobster. Not sure why it was so perturbed, but it tasted great. ;)

My 55 day aged ribeye, they were out of the 75 day, but it was still great.

Great asparagus and king crab mashed potatoes.

We were stuffed but ordered a creme brulee. It was unreal. Those cherries had been soaked in brandy and were worth killing over.

Not sure why, but the waiter said 'I also decided to bring you these and not charge you for them'. Seriously.

    I am so gloriously full.

  8. I cooked! Quinoa Stuffed Acorn Squash. It was pretty damn tasty. I had all the right ingredients at home to make it. However, I've been on a red kick lately and didn't have anything that I found as a good suggestion to pair with it. :-( Oh well, I drank some sangiovese that I had because I could.

Not as pretty as what Borla shows, but it was still nummy.

Beer and pizza are high on the list for tonight. I'm also considering sushi.

Delicately fried Mayport shrimp drizzled with a light, creamy datil pepper sauces over thinly sliced cucumbers and onions, and pork belly wraps with house-made pickled ginger, carrots, and radishes.
Braised pork shank topped with mustard-parmesan-pine nut crust, crushed potatoes, and roasted vegetables (matchstick-style carrots, brussel sprouts, and potatoes) with this amazing sauce made from the braising liquid. S had the wood-roasted tenderloin, medium rare, over creamed spinach and topped with house-made pimento cheese something or other.
Angeline pinot noir and a Woodford mint julep respectively.
Dessert was a few bites of a chocolate truffle torte topped with chocolate mousse and blackberries, with a cognac and coffee for me.

Weird. USPS must've misdelivered my invitation.

I only got my invite at noon. It's our favorite restaurant of all time for price and consistency. And deliciousness. The chef is amazing and his flavor combinations are mind blowing. Plus, much of the ingredients are local and super fresh. Except the tasso ham and the Neuske's bacon they use at times.

I'm making up a bunch of stuff today for my housewarming party tonight: pizza dough for flatbreads, white bean dip, veggie tray, apple/brie turnovers, mushroom bites, etc. Should be yummy.

Our meetup location has been decided, Borla :D

Had a 1lbs beef fillet with mashed potatoes, steamed baby carrots and a to-kill-for creamy mushroom sauce for dinner tonight.

    Wish I'd taken pictures.

Also had dinner at this place a few days ago: Nolu's Cafe | Al Bandar | Home Page

Not sure what's up with the "Afghani-inspired" tidbits (since none of their recipes resemble anything Afghan), but their food is hella delicious.
