    Bell Canada was on my street this week digging up the curbs. I'm hoping that this is an indication that they're finally laying in fibre so they can offer VDSL service here. This 5/1 internet has gots to go.

    Well, it's not really fibre, at least not FttH like FiOS. It's the best we get up here, generally speaking. CPE equipment plugs into copper wire, which runs off a remote DSLAM with fibre backhaul to the trunk. It'll let me have as much as 25/10, which if you're keeping track is 5 times faster on the download and 10 times faster on the upload than what I'm on now.

    Once upon a time I would've considered 5 megabit down blazing fast. That time was around 2003. These days it's a bit painful.

    There is apparently a weird hole in my driveway that I missed while vehicles were parked over it during the moving process. On my walk home (from the bar, where I drank with ZombieSquirrel) I ate shit in this hole. My ankle is now all sorts of fucked up. To the doctor I likely go, upon the morrow. Le sigh.

    They're taking away my desktop computer this morning and replacing it with a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.

    I have no idea what that means but I am told everything will now be hosted externally.

    And best of all, it will have an app that will be much better to connect from home/tablet than the sucky VPN.
