You should visit the Med someday. France, Greece, Israel. Ireland is beautiful as well. If I ever get the chance to travel as a civilian and spend more time seeing the local sights rather than worry about feeding the boilers more DFM I would probably be inclined to go back to France or St. Maarten; there was this old overgrown cemetery right in the middle of everything that I would love to explore closer with my decent DSLR and lens. There were tombstones going back to the 1680's in that small space.

Agreed with Charlatan. Living abroad is often great fun, and adds a humongous amount of perspective and knowledge.

I agree. But the election did concern me quite a bit.
I have given a lot of thought to leaving the country once I am a nurse and have put some hospital experience under my cap. Quite honestly, if the country does eventually swing back and put another one of those backwards-looking, warmongering conservative candidates into office, it's pretty likely. Nursing is another one of those professions you can take just about anywhere.

And Canada needs quality nurses. Especially tilted ones :D.

I can't imagine leaving a democratic country over a single election. It would take a real, bad, societal shift to make me do that. I CAN imagine living abroad or travelling extensively; it's something Canadians and Americans need giving the geographic oddity of 2-HUGE countries side-by-side and largely sharing the same language and cultural heritages. It ain't normal around the world, and it distorts our perspectives.

Shocking how quickly people forget. It'll only be a matter of time before we elect another Bush "yippie kay yay" cowboy motherfucker type back into the White House.

I think it would be quite funny to watch right-wing Americans attempt our immigration process. On what grounds would they apply? Asylum? Haha! :D

Do you have a process for those seeking "mental asylum?"

I'm pretty sure that Canadians are even stricter about the "No Mexicans" thing. Don't even try it, wetback. ;)

"The Inuit" are actually displaced Mexicans in Arctic forced labour camps.

    Nunavut is our Siberia.

Leave Green Bay out of this discussion. They're a concussion away from not winning another game.

And who do you think taught the Canadians to be so anti-Mexican?! But if you do make it over there, I'm NOT calling you "Lord Tully".

You could just leave it at "I'm not calling you" and I'd be happy.

GB fans are getting a little pay back for getting a bit too uppity in recent years. I'm actually glad to see the the Bears on top of the NFC North.

I love seeing Republicans whine about the electoral college system.

No opposition to it was heard from their camp when Dubya won back in '00 despite having half a million less of the popular vote.

The only difference in '00 was that Gore had an actual claim via a split vote and the disaster in Fl.

This time around the GOP was heavily defeated in popular, electoral and the SSSSSSenate. (I'm more stoked about the senate than the Presidential :D :D :D )

Maybe those are the same people who would say they will hold their breath until they get their way.

I don't understand the logic of people who say they'll leave the country if an election doesn't go their way. We live in a democracy, and that means that occasionally (or more than occasionally) the side you want to win won't. It would be one thing if the winner imposed a military dictatorship or a dictatorship of the proletariat. I don't see that happening. We'll be ok. Even if it means only in the long run.

As for Donald Trump, I wish he'd keep quiet. Every time he speaks it subtracts from the sum of human knowledge and wisdom.

now now, RB, you're falling prey to the "all" "none" "never" "always" fallacy. Surely you know that there are good and bad people of all types and stations, don't you? That particular argument of yours can be turned around against almost anyone, including, say, college professors.
