I keep looking at this thread. I don't know what to say. Conan is awesome, but I'm not sure that old, fat Arnold in a loincloth is something the world needs.

Not sure if the world needs it, but it's obvious after the failure of the Conan re-make, it's what the world wants. LOL

Odds a 2012 Schwarzenegger would still kick Martian's ass: 88%

...but how are we going to go as scrawny Barbarian vs. scrawny Destroyer for next Halloween in T-dot? Man up, mofo!

    ...

I want this movie to happen now. And I want there to be some awesome brow furrowing action with epic one-liners.

    What?

    !

    Bring
    It
    On!

Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja ... Yes :) The others, NO.

I awaited the Mumoa version like I was awaiting a heaving cat to vomit up a furball. I like the guy ... his role in Stargate Atlantis made him one whose career it's a pleasure to follow. His role in GOT? IMO, Awesome ... savagery and dignity. But Conan? To me, he was a coathanger, a place marker for an adventure story. I was sad about that. Arnold? Heck, he's better than the man I saw in Expendables 1 and 2. I'm looking forward to this and I wish him all the very best and hope he'll use this to kick-off the 'third age' of his acting career..

I don't know if Arnold can pull it off remember only his first Conan was Great. The Sequeal Conan the destroyer was Trash

  8. I am a big fan of REH's writing.

When the first Conan movie came out I hated it because it was nothing like the stories I had read as a youth.
I got over it and became fond of it's campy goodness.

Some of Robert E. Howard's first stories of Conan found him already King of Aquilonia.
In "Sword of the Phoenix," one of his first published Conan stories (circa 1932) Conan was a middle aged king.
It was a recycled Kull story redone for Conan.

Several of his Conan stories deal with Conan in his august years coming to terms with age and death.
    They were excellent.
I am slightly hopeful that this movie might consider these stories.
However, every attempt at Conan in any media not done by REH I have considered a dissappointment.
    I am only guardedly optimistic.

The "I can still do it" craze is still chugging along, I see. It makes me wonder how much make up he'll need, otherwise most 65 year old barbarians would probably meet their fate in more ways than one.

Looking forward to the movie, if it's done right. I like Arnold in the part, although I did like the short lived TV series, starring Rolf Mueller (sp?) as well. After reading the original stories by Robert E. Howard, Arnold was the perfect actor for the role. Howard's stories had action, humor and quite a bid of blood letting. They're fish out of water stories, as Conan had to adjust to several different phases of his life, thief, barbarian, soldier, king.

    Should be an interesting movie.

Let us no longer speak of the abomination that was Destroyer..."BOM-BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATA!" Sorry about that.
