I nearly died today when my car aquaplaned on the motorway in a huge fecking storm of thunder lightening and heavy rain with hailstones. Shook for about an hour afterwards. Seriously scary moment :(.

Melodramatic I know, but I actually thought I was going to die for like 8 seconds.

Given where you're at (cf the other thread), I know, from my own experience of being me, what it's like to have the inside running in a very different gear from the outside. Please keep special watch on your safety ... this could be time of 'if in doubt, don't risk, or at least triple-check'. This is because the gap between the feelings on the inside and the needs of the outside run the risk of distracting each other.

I resisted writing this in reply to what you said in the other thread because I didn't want to get all brother-hen-ish. But though today's aquaplaning is about the world rather than about your driving, it sent me over the edge.

    Take care , Cwtch.

  4. Have done that, like being on ice. Scary, you are just passenger. How are your tyres? Is there enough tread?

And now it's Saturday night. And since I was too busy dealing with end users I didn't get a chance to go buy beer. But I've decided that the best possible use of my time now is to watch The Big Lebowski on Blu Ray, in 1080p high definition with dolby digital HD surround sound.

Yes. This is a good plan for my Saturday night.

An odd/freakish moment for my Lady. Standing outside of her physiotherapists office, calling me on her phone, a random stranger shoved her from behind into rush hour traffic. My Lady has a walking support cast on her broken foot & limited motion from a frozen shoulder. This compromises her ability to react to unexpected circumstances. We are damn lucky there were no cars in that lane at that moment. Almost lost my Lady :(

Not a pointless announcement at all.. but amonkie looked amazing today for her wedding.. and still looks amazing now in comfy clothes. :)

And, of course, the_jazz stood me up. AGAIN.

kramus, I hope all is well now. That sounds pretty crazy.

amonkie, I hope the wedding was amazing. The photos look smashing!

This weekend has been full for me. My daughter's 10th birthday party yesterday followed by a third interview with a very cool possible job. Today I am flying to Manila for a press conference. What I really want to be doing is sleeping!

Wedding was short, sweet, awesome. Less than 2 hours from Ceremony start to reception finish. That's how I like it.

Thank you for all the well wishes!

So happy for my girl. My family also had massive good wishes for Miss Monkie today after they heard she was getting married.

Also, so glad after last night's shitty night's sleep that it is magically an hour earlier. How did that happen? Yay.

Tread is fine, they are all under six months old, not sure about the air though, I have no idea how to put air in them, never had to do it myself. So going to have to find someone today to show me. Would being under inflated make a difference to traction ?

In your car's handbook/manual there should be a table for tire pressure and many cars have stickers either inside the lid over the fuel cap or the front passenger side door frame with the same table. (I'm sorry for my English on this subject.). There are often different values in those tables for different car sub models and tire sizes and different pressure for front and rear tires. Most common is to list also 2 values, one for light load and one for full load. All the values are for "cold" tire so checking tire pressure should be done before you drive your car as the tires warm up while driving.
Many petrol stations have automatic tire pumps where you enter the desired pressure and the pump does the rest.
    Hope this makes some sense.
