    pusillanimous.
    sycophant.
insipid can be savored like the taste of a moderately-priced wine.
i've always been drawn to the name "visigoth" without quite knowing why. i do not aspire to be a visigoth, nor do i have a particular desire to know any.

defenestrate is still a favorite. to throw out a window. to wit:

I started to write a list of words, but then I realized that I love them all. My favorite is 'context', because it is the means by which all words can become The Perfect Word.

My wife often accuses me of being parsimonious
Then someone has to, in this family...she'd spend us out of house & home, the flamboyant woman.

At least I'm not insipid like her previous boyfriends...
Personally, I consider myself a Renaissance Man...insightful, but not Machiavellian
With a bit of irreverence mixed in.

    Love this thread...

My favorite word in the French lexicon, hands down.

To this I would add "panties," and to this list I would elevate "moist panties" as one of those phrases whose aural construction makes my skin crawl, even though the concept is, in contrast, strikingly pleasing.

    Some of my own favorites:
    Visceral
    Profundity
    Swarthy
    Sycophant (+1)
Quagmire, my all time favorite word in middle school

Useless trivia:for some reason our eighth grade English class was given an assignment to create our own vanity license plates. "Quagmire" was my chosen word, but at the time NY plates could only fit seven characters and I had to settle for KWAGMYR—not quite as satisfying.

Ohhhhhh I can I tell you my favourite words even though they are dialect?

Spaegie - There is no English equivalent - its the muscle soreness the day or so after too much exercise.
    Breeks - trousers
Mirackled - Again no direct English equivalent - 'John mirackled him self last night falling down the stairs'. Its a severe injury, but it also implys that it was avoidable.
Neebit - Someone might look neebit if they are ill, a bit off colour or just not them selves.
    Dastreen - last nigh
