There is something I want. I realized yesterday that it might be attainable, but I am not sure how to go about getting it. There are layers of complexity that are casting shadows on the right path.

My bank, which doesn't have a branch any further east than NW Indiana, has a notice up on it's website today. Deposits aren't working due to Sandy. They'll do their best to credit your account properly once they can. However, the credit card payment I made yesterday, which was to a bank out of NYC, somehow got processed just fine this morning. Go figure, eh?

Excellent, I dressed up as a TNG officer once. The only real trouble I had was finding the right kind of boots. What are you using?

  5. 24 foot waves forecast for the southern end of Lake Michigan. I wish I could drive up there to see it, I'm only about 11 miles away but I am slammed with work today.

Fremen, when I go gay, I promise you'll be the very first to know. My gay cherry will be yours for the taking. I'm all about the NSA thing, but I don't know if I'm ready to go down that road with a dude. But if I am, you're the one!

I'm more concerned about my baby bump than my boots! I'm wearing a pair of Aerosoles "Big Finale" boots. They're just my usual winter boots, but they will look pretty good with the uniform.

  10. This morning sucks already. Alarm went off, but I hit off and rolled back over and fell asleep again. Didn't get up until 4 minutes after I was supposed to get to work. Got ready in 15 minutes (Hair is SILL wet) then went out to my car....it wouldn't start.

At least I am within walking distance to my work.

Now I am weeding through a ton of email after having been off got one day. ONE STINKING DAY!

Sadly, it doesn't look like postie's going to make my day today. Not for the weather -- it's wet and rainy, but otherwise the worst seems to be over on that front. No, as it turns out Canada Post just doesn't seem to know where my package is. I had three different people tell me that it's expected delivery date is the twenty-sixth, which is fantastic except that today is the thirtieth so unless they've traded the iconic red vans for a fleet of DeLoreans I don't see how that information is especially helpful to me.

In unrelated news, there are three Canada Post employees who I think don't like me very much now. At least Best Buy was helpful -- they're opening an investigation for me. It takes 48 hours but they'll refund my purchase if we haven't figured out what's going on by the end of it.

I'm trying to figure out what my lesson is on this one. Don't use Canada post for parcels, I guess.

Wow, Martian. The surprising part is that Best Buy was helpful AND competent. I'm sure that Canadian Ron Swanson will be happy to tell you why Canada Post is worthless.

I was just as surprised as you are, believe me. I expected talking to Best Buy customer service to be something of an ordeal, but the fellow over there got the balling rolling on my claim with minimal fuss. Makes me wonder if this happens a lot.

I keep up on my email on my days off specifically because I know that if I don't I'll have several hundred waiting for me by the time I get back.

I took a week off work back in February, and decided as an experiment of sorts that I wouldn't check my email at all during that period. As I recall, I came back to over a thousand unread messages.

    Yay technology!

    That sucks, bigtime.
The U.S. postal service is going under so though the cheapest carrier for regular packages, it seems when one has a choice, pay a bit more (sometimes a lot more) for UPS or FedEx. In Canada, I guess that means go FedEx, Purolator or UPS Canada next time?

  17. I usually check my email via my phone, but was protesting doing that since I took yesterday off to be away from work duties. I needed to do that for my sanity.

When I was gone for a week visiting family, I checked my email every day and responded to any I could remotely.

  18. He was a great help in finding shelter for a couple of young folk stranded in Manhattan. Their weekend trip turned out to be an even bigger adventure than they bargained for!

Sounds like the cynthetiq I know.

I barely got any sleep last night. This morning the middle schoolers cheered me up, and so that was good, but now I feel ready to hit the wall again.
