Way to go on not giving me any notice, big shot. Now I'm not going to get my VIP room deposit back from Archibald's.

Wait, not giving you any notice on coming out or not giving you any notice on cancelling? I'm confused.

I booked the trip while you were busy dealing with America's finest export - shit. But I'm only going to be in town for 7 hours. You seriously want me to let you know when I'm ninja-raiding, insurance style?

You have the Bears, though. That's something.

Why is everybody so serious these days? Jesus Christ, people... do I have to summon up TFP staff that never frequent the site to deal with your butthurt PMs and tell you to chill the hell out? The whole "fuck you" kerfuffle in the manchicks-with-ladyweenies thread was a prime example.

here in tiny town, the wind is up and it's raining intermittently. what's curious is that the river behind the building i am sitting in is already quite high. so the wind is already preventing low tide from going out. the interesting thing is going to be the levels mid-afternoon, which will give the shape of things to come tonight. but we are not slated to get the full brunt of this thing---that'll be south of us. i hope folk on south-facing coastline of new england, in nyc, nj and further south are safe.

Hahaha, reminds me of a family anecdote. My dad's family lived in Miami when he was growing up, and my grandmother loved to go watch the waves before a hurricane came through. So before Betsy, my grandparents went down to the beach for a stroll. When they got there, some teenage boys were bodysurfing. My grandmother got all worked up about it, saying how irresponsible the boys were and where were their parents, etc. My grandfather tried his best to keep a straight face as he recognized one of the boys. "Don't look now, Jean, but there's your son." Grandma was so pissed! In my dad's defense, he was a lifeguard and they had just finished closing down the beach. He still admits it was a dumb thing to do. I'm sure his mother made him regret it!

In Toronto it's cold and windy and rainy. So, October, but more so.

You guys down south are supposed to keep the hurricanes to yourselves. We're not equipped for this kind of thing up here.

So this is your offer in exchange for making me poop outside in the cold, eh?

Plan9, you have no idea the amount of hand-wringing and fretting that went down when you recently went on extended leave. 'Humour,' if it weren't for MeltedMetalGlob, would have ceased to exist on these boards entirely. I shudder to think what we would have devolved into if you hadn't returned, dear boy. It may take a while for ye olde TFP to grow back it's funny-bone.

It's getting pretty wild in my area of eastern pa. The wind sounds and trees creaking is really eerie. I had to redirect water from the down spouts, looks like a small pond on the side of the house.
Jersey Shore is getting it bad and it hasn't even seen the eye of the storm. High tide at 8, land fall at 10. This is not good.

My kid is group Skyping friends on the U. S. east coast. Eight were in on the call and then they started dropping as they lost power. Last I heard, 6 of the 8 were 'gone.'

Crossfit is now in my city, but it seems a bit expensive since 3 sessions are $45. I will create my own crossfit on a cheaper budget.

I never realized how much of my business is dependent on the East Coast.

Stay warm and dry, Northeastern TFPers. Especially you folks in NYC. Everything that I'm seeing has that being the epicenter of property damage.

I had a similar experience on a conference call late this morning. One of the guys from Philly was emailing me that he had an "All circuits busy" error over and over again. Everyone not on the East Coast was on the call fine. Once he finally dialed in we all started getting horrible feedback and interference on the line. He volunteered to drop off and see if it cleared up, which it did. I also have another contact that was out in DC visiting his son last week. His flight home got cancelled so he's stuck there at least through Wed. Hope everyone stays safe.

Be safe. The same goes for everyone else in the path of Sandy.

It was a really terrible day at work today. There was a distinct moment in our weekly meeting where I thought I was going to throw up.
