If he keeps repeating it, maybe it will be accepted as true.

    Maybe he means the Mediterranean?

Hey, Americans: How about you give this guy a shot at being the Decider!

Ann Coulter's tweet following last night's debate:
"I highly approve of Romney's decision to be kind and gentle to the retard,"

In response to an email asking her if she has any regrets over the use of the word:
“The only people who will be offended are too retarded to understand it,”

I'm still trying to figure out just how Syria is Iran's route to the sea. Palin school of geography?

I think horses and bayonets is a term that quite nicely sums up the central issue in this election. Americans can choose a guy who's done at least moderately well at preventing disaster and fostering some kind of recovery, or they can choose a guy who has demonstrated on a number of occasions, on a number of levels, that he doesn't seem to get what's going on.

They can choose a guy who's been rolling up his sleeves trying to fix this mess for four years, or they can choose a guy who is all but completely out of touch with reality.

Horses and bayonets is one man's way of encapsulating another man's ignorance.

Obama is hardly perfect, but I think the choice is clear.

    However....

    This is America, after all.

The link below leads to one of the better opinion pieces I have read regarding President Obama's failure in the debates as it relates to his Presidency.

Obama’s Blunder Was in Ceding Political Center to Romney - Bloomberg

Here is a quote from the piece:

I have stated that Romney is very similar to President Obama regarding my view on the strength of conviction matrix. It is interesting to me that Romney basically is going to win because he did a better job of pivoting his message to the "middle". The Romney strategy in the general election should be a case study. Romney is playing to win the election, Obama is playing to win points. The left gets excited about horses and bayonets but it really doesn't matter because Romney usurped the "middle", just when the "middle" is paying attention.

The Romney strategy might help with blue collar independents....except in the midwest/rustbelt where his explanation on the auto bailout is not selling and unemployment is generally lower than the country as a whole. There is no indication his strategy will help with independent women, particularly younger women or with hispanics, the fastest growing demographic.

More importantly, the electoral map still favors Obama.

I think Romney has a shot of winning the popular vote while losing the election as a result of bigger popular wins in the South and smaller Obama wins in the Midwest, Southwest and West.

The Romney flip-flop, etch-a-sketch strategy is not a strategy I would suggest as a case study.

Yes, this Romney-as-moderate deception is disconcerting.

To think that his amorphous/chameleonic strategy could pay off.

He's betting on the average US voter being pretty stupid. As many have pointed out it's a good bet, sadly.

Donald Trump wants Barack Obama to publish his college and passport records but won't reveal his own | Adam Gabbatt | World news | guardian.co.uk

the guardian punks that donald asshole.

ace talking about what moves undecided voters is pretty funny.

there were many depressing things about the debates that had nothing to do with which of the more-or-less interchangeable candidates (obama an actual centrist, romney a total opportunist, willing to say anything to anyone)...that nothing of any substance was discussed for example. the way the "foreign policy" debate ended up being a map of the narcissism of the american political class. the idea that the conservative assumption of a demographic beset with little information and even less an attention span might be an accurate self-portrait; the degenerate nature of us politics...

I think President Obama will do worse with the midwest/rustbelt union vote this election than the last. What do you think on this point and what is the significance?

I know many want to pretend the 47% remark means something other than what it actually means, but it is clear that Romney never targeted this demographic. Romney approached his campaign in a very disciplined manner, with the intent to win the election.

True, but undecideds at this point will go to Romney. President Obama has had trouble getting to 50% and staying there consistently. I think President Obama has peaked in the polls. The key will be turnout, for President Obama to overcome this problem.

A case study is a case study regardless of your like or dislike of the strategy or the candidate. If Romney wins, it will be a legitimate case study for certain candidates running against an incumbent with strong favorabilities with a strong populist message. How do Republicans win a national election if they cede minority vote, youth vote, female vote, union vote, etc. Doing this with a candidate that has to win the Republican primaries dominated by the far right. If you don't find this interesting, why are you on a political forum?

My view is that Romney faked his way through the Republican primaries and the real Romney has surfaced. He was the Governor of Massachusetts, a very liberal state and he governed as a moderate. My biggest problem with Romney was that to mean in the primaries it was clear he was not being who he really is.

His bet is that the average US voter is not a news junky the way you and I are. Big consumers of news can see what Romney has done to moderate his message. Those tuning in during the last 30 days or so of an election are seeing Romney as a new and fresh package. President Obama's campaign should have anticipated this - I think the ad blitz they did early against Romney will prove to have been a waste - now is the time for those ads to be peaking defining Romney on their terms. During the initial President Obama ad blitz against Romney, Romney was not really concerned

Laugh if you want, I call the election (popular vote and electoral vote) for Romney. I would not have made that call a month ago.

i live in massachusetts. almost no-one supports romney. people here know about him. there's nothing he can do to squirm out of the damage knowing him does to taking him seriously as a candidate.

Well, the Governor of Massachusetts needn't worry his legislature about foreign policy, and he was certainly in right-wing territory with social policy.

I'm not sure how you can gauge him as a moderate. While applying austerity measures to Mass., he shifted the tax burden away from the wealthy and onto the middle class. Oh, and same-sex marriage and abortion.

So in terms of sorting out fakery and sincerity, on this topic, all we can say, really, is Mitt Romney approached federal politics on the matter of foreign policy as a wild card with clear right-wing tendencies.

Whose fault is it that the Republican party is perceived as alienating minorities? Who's to blame for Mitt crawling in the mud with the rest? Mitt had a choice. He chose to align himself with the far right. Now he wants to come out of the closet as a moderate? And you don't have a problem with this?

The far right division of your beloved party is out of control. Romney should not have to stoop to their level to win a primary. That he did, in order to win the primary, gives me plenty of reason to question his character, just in case I had none before.
