OK...here we go for the last one.
    Foreign policy...
This is what the President literally has most power of in the US.

Obama seems to have gotten the hint, knows what Romney is capable of.
This is one of his strengths...even superseding the GOP's usual advantage of.

Can Romney speak on it intelligently?
His few recent FP visits have been gaffe prone. He hasn't spoke on it much. And he tends to walk into Obama's "traps"

    This will definitely be interesting...
I hope they don't harp on Benghazi too much...media hype on this has been overkill in relative terms to other FP topics.

Add Cuba to the list. I hope they bring that up, especially with Florida in play. Fidel could possibly pass away, and would the US work with Cuba, should Cuba let in US companies (or just tourists).

I'll put on my Alex Jones hat here...with all the attention the GOP is giving the Benghazi incident, what are the chances that they are the ones behind it?

I think it is Bob Shaffer, not Jim Lehrer.

Yeah, the BBC just said the same. Wonder why Jim Lehrer came up in one of the many articles released today on this debate.

Here's hoping Shaffer will do well.

That was about the most pointless debate yet. What new ideas did they talk about? Europe and it's money issues? Cuba? Worldwide cooperation/treaties? Worldwide climate issues? Immigration? Role of the US in Natural disaster aid? Mexico drug war? Closing US military bases in foreign countries...

Libya, Syria, Israel, Iran, China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan are important, but it's not like we didn't know where they stand on those. Ask the tough questions and see if they can answer what they will do in the next term.

    Just watched it.

Both sides did OK, in my view. Obama maybe landed more blows but Romney came across as more likeable than in previous debates and avoided suggesting that he would take troops in anywhere.

The question is, did the US electorate care much about this one?

I'm glad I'm not having to suffer the onslaught of advertising you Americans will have to endure now. Next step, voting.

I'm currently predicting Obama to win Ohio and then go on to win by 30-50 more electoral votes than Romney. The bookies seem to agree with me, but time will tell.

Edit: I agree that some key issues were avoided, but I don't think the American electorate care.

From what I heard, Romney offers nothing on foreign policy that Obama isn't already doing.

For me, and I've said it before, I need only look at who Romney's advisers are (Bolton, Wolfowitz, etc.) to know that Romney isn't to be trusted.

I was a bit stunned to hear Romney mention the UN as a diplomatic go to considering Bolton's opinion of the institution.

Just 21% Favor GM Bailout Plan, 67% Oppose - Rasmussen Reports™

When the auto bailouts came up, why didn't Obama ask if Romney would have gone against 60-70% of the American public (and a large majority of the GOP) and done the right thing to save the US auto companies?

It is easy to pick the winners and losers now in the present, but at the time when you have to make the decisions you need to know how to make them work.

this was a particularly dismal piece of interminable theater. from what i saw, romney did not even have a grasp on basic geography and moved from there to talking point after talking about. obama clearly had a far better grasp of what was being discussed but also moved to talking point after talking point over and over. us relations with other parts of the world were largely tangential. where they did come up, there was agreement. so there was no debate.

Debate night wouldn't be the same without a quote from

    more like
Me Too, but I'll do it better...but I won't tell you how.

Obama was better at making comparison...where they are different.

BTW...I thought it was a Foreign Policy debate...but turns out to be Domestic. Silly me.

    I'm confused.

I thought Romney was all "tough by show of force" like the over-rated Reagan.

    Hmmm.

Apparently, Syria is Iran's "route to the sea". Really? Since when?

BTW...I just learned some new geography last night,
Romney told me that Iran's only way to the sea is through Syria...that's why it's important.
This is not the only time he's told me this...See?

    Alistair heard it too.
    Must be true.
