I have to agree with Rogue. I watched the debate on You Tube. I watched it before I read any of the reviews or read any of the spoilers in this thread. I didn't Biden's smiling and laughing at Ryan was rude or over the top. I found it refreshing.

In fact, I think comparing Biden to Romney is being too nice to Romney. Romney talked over the moderator to gain more time to speak. Biden, talked over Ryan, to call him on his malarkey. There really is a difference.

again, it is funny as hell to see complaints about decorum coming from a population that tolerates roger ailes and karl rove. seriously.

Wonder which version of Romeny we're going to get a look at tomorrow? Should be interesting.

    • Debates for the most part don't make that much difference.
    • Romney won't be the "new guy" anymore
    • Obama won't be as "bad" debating as the news has hyped
    • And the polls will continue as they are
    • The media will exaggerate everything they see and hear...but still not call people out for their bullshit. (fact checkers are ignored)

Watching the second Presidential debate live.

This moderator is much better than last time.

Geez, if Romney gets in I'm going to have to figure out what to do with all the tax savings on my capital gains and dividends. It's always friggin' something!

Did he ever answer the question about the safety of the child and education credits? I'm assuming they'll end up down the toilet.

Oh silly me. I can offset the loss with the savings on my investments. Or, I could if I had any.

Obama did MUCH better. Romney did OK.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the polls which may answer whether people trust Romney, in particular.

However, two questions occur to me. First, how can anyone still be "undecided"? Second, the policies don't change and yet people change their minds because of the debates. What does this say about the state of democracy and the average voter?

May as well ask them to sing, have Simon Cowell comment and let people phone in their votes, X-Factor style.

I'm proud of Obama. I think he did a great job of bringing focus back onto what some of the important platform differences are between the democrat and republican tickets - especially regarding equality, education, and green energy.

the only way to watch the spin room idiocy is on c-span so you see the cameras and the talking heads.
it seemed to me that obama did better than romney and that the loser is the electorate---particularly that segment who is "information light" and would actually decide something based on this debate thing.
in other sports news, maybe the yankees are about to go down 3-0.
    maybe not.

Actually, I agree with George Will...one of the best debates I've seen.
If only all of them could be like that.
    • Nice to see a moderator actually call someone on incorrect information.
    • Obama got a nice comeback in on Romney asking about where his retirement investments are.
    • Obama didn't seem distracted this time, and had his talking points down.
    • Romney didn't do any worse than last time, but in comparison to the smooth patter Obama put out, seemed less so.
    • I agree with Joniemack, dividends & capital gains?? Romney seemed to slide back to his out of touch persona
    • Again, agreeing with George Will; tactically, it was great that Obama held off on the 47% comment until the end...and no Romney rebuttal.

Here's a review I believe is fair and down the middle...not speaking of knock-outs or such...but noting each man's vulnerability.
Although it says Obama "won", but that may be only because this time Obama seemed more alive by comparison.
What do you think? Fair? Or losing the real dynamic seen?

I think that's a reasonable read on the debate I listened to, with one exception. In what world were those questions, "left leaning"? They were quite centre of the road questions.

As always, the weird prism through which the US sees politics is so skewed right that it can't see the centre when it's staring them in the face.

I don't think this debate did much for non committed or independents. Neither candidate has laid out a clear plan of action and most of us are still just as confused as before. I know who I'll be voting for just from a "moral" standpoint but I don't think most independents, women, or non-committed are ready to cast a ballot and that spells trouble for Obama I think. This debate certainly stopped the bleeding for Obama and it helped to show he's willing to fight for his job, but Romney is still seen as the favorite in the economic realm and that could be all he needs. Romney certainly looked flustered on a few things and botched a couple of questions that he should have hit a home run on, but the POTUS didn't exactly rock the block either on some of those that he should have nailed. IF Obama comes out and lays out a clear plan of action for a second term, I think the non-committed and independents will take a good hard look and swing his way. If the fails to lay out something comprehensive, I don't think he'll win unless it's another 2000 type win.
