I ended up reading The System of the World first, and often wonder about the ancestry of the characters as I'm reading Cryptonomicon.

I'm slowly making my way through Stephen King's Dark Tower series. I'm almost finished with Book 5. For non-fiction, I'm reading The Sociopath Next Door, Eat to Live (constantly referring to this book), and Health2O.

I've just started reading Pride and Prejudice, which may very well be a part of a series I shall call "Books I Should Have Read in University."

Currently reading The Hobbit to my daughter. I think she's enjoying it (that's an encouraging sign).

I am currently reading Jack McDevitt's, The Engines of God.

Lovely. Thank you for posting this! I believe that he is here reading the song that Galadriel sings in farewell as the Company leaves Lothlorien. If I recall correctly, it was one of his favorite pieces of Elvish poetry that he considered "finished."

When I finally really picked up 'Mistborn' by Brandon Sanderson, I couldn't put it down. The final 2 books in the Mistborn trilogy were waiting for me when I got home from Canada and so I'm trying not to devour "The Well Of Ascension," but it's going quickly. I'm really glad to have discovered this author though if I'd paid more attention to what books my kid was reading I would have noticed many of them were by Sanderson. I can't believe I'd never read an adult fantasy book until the Lord of The Rings back when the first film came out.

  17. The Mistborn series by Sanderson is really good. He has another book called The Way of Kings that I would recommend picking up after completing the Mistborn series.

Also, If you find yourself wanting to read something like Sanderson but a little more "R" rated, try Joe Abercrombie. The Blade Itself is violent, vulgar, and everything else I want in a book.

Im currently reading book 4 in The Dark Tower series - Wizards and Glass. Books 1 and 2 were a chore to get through. I was lost most of the time. Book 3 made up for it and I was bummed when it was over. Hopefully book 4 will keep me interested.

i just re-read Matthew Woodring Stovers Heroe's Die series about Cain the assassin. best scifi-fantasy-action series i've ever read hands down. Stover is a martial arts student himself so he writes combat that feels like watching an action movie as you read it, and the dystopian brazil society mixed with the elves and dragons of overworld is a perfect cocktail. can't recommend it enough...

I recently finished The Idiot which I liked quite a bit (got a kindle, so I downloaded a bunch of out-of-copyright books). I started reading Crime and Punishment but I'm having a bit of a hard time sticking to reading it.. The main character is hard to empathize with so far.
