Ahhh, now I see why I was confused. I've been trained in my Lab technology classes that hospice care in Canada, merely means moving into a nursing home for long-term treatment and care in a protected community. Hospice care in Canada is a good thing. I had to look up the American translation: hospice care there means end-of-life care. Which in Canada, is called Palliative Care. Very different.
That sucks.

Hopefully, they'll be able to get him out of the fucking hospital and get him home where he can enjoy his time. There are different levels of Hospice in Florida. H-12, H-6, etc. Being able to have a nurse, doctor, and social worker come out to your home where your things, your people, and your bed are is invaluable. They often do palliative care an call it hospice in Florid because Medicare suuuuuucks. Hospice of the Suncoast kicks ass, though. They'll do whatever he needs. It sound scary, but I've known people in hospice care for 2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months, and 2 years. The important this is that they don't have to follow stupid hospital rules on pain and comfort meds. Maybe he can get some Marinol

My love to Marilyn. I did hospice work for 7.5 years if anyone has any questions. Not that I'm a complete expert, but I'm intimately familiar with how it works in Florida.

 

If some one can get a message to him and let him know myself, as I'm sure many many others, have him in our thoughts and hearts through this difficult time.

I shall now go drink a scotch and coke for him (he'd get that, trust me.)
