Are you the sort of person who will try anything once? Bizarre foods? Underwater shark cage? Sex with the boss's hot wife?

Would you eat fried and skewered seahorse and scorpion?

I play it fairly safe but I can see myself trying this with the right condiments.

I will never eat insects. Other than shrimps/prawns, of course.

I can see myself eating seahorse meat, if the shell is removed and there's actually anything left to consume.

If it's fried, sure. Everything tastes good fried. ;)

But no, unless it's something I want to do, I won't do something just because it's daring/unlawful/dangerous and/or stupid. I might break a bone which thus far I've avoided doing. I don't see the appeal in dare-devil feats. As close as I got to that was childbirth. Pain, blood, screaming--what more do you need?

No. No I would not. Replace the scorpion with something from the beef, pork, or chocolate families, and game on.

I will try almost anything twice.

  6. Um... no.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

Can I try the boss' wife first and get back to you about the rest?

    Aren't scorpions poisonous?
The seahorse, maybe. I don't know about the texture, but the idea isn't much different from those miniature squid (squids?) that I've eaten whole in Korean food.

Are scorpions insects? I thought they were like lizards.

Forget the scorpions, then. I won't eat insects either.

I generally haven't liked too many exoskeletal features on my food, and I'm not sure I find eating something weird or odd to be "adventurous."

Overall, I like to try new things, though. I recently had kumquat and starfruit for the first time, and it wasn't too long ago that I had my first pomegranate. I like the idea of trying exotic food that isn't readily available here, since I haven't really travelled much beyond my region.

Dude, that's so weak. This means you'd sooner go vegan (read: anemic; malnourished) than eat insects.

The hell, man? You think eating pomegranate, starfruit and and kumquat is exploring the food scene? I expected better of a grass-munching herbivore.

That's probably the only exception I make to the "MEAT COMES FIRST!" rule. I'll always be happier enjoying a fresh, cool apple or pear over eating a grilled spider.

There's also the matter whether insect insides are meat at all. Probably not.

I was chatting with a friend of mine earlier on this evening on the food topic.

I am willing to try any vegetables or fruit. Meat-wize, I'll stick to beef, pork, lamb or chicken. Even the idea of eating bunnies or goats makes me want to chuck.

And I'm totally with Fangirl about only doing what I actually want to do.
I am impervious to dares and have always despised the 'dare culture'.

    A couple of things:
    1. I said recently. This isn't the total sum of my experience.
    2. I come from the land of apples and wheat.
Would it make you happier if I told you I enjoyed my first vegan maple bacon donut a couple of months ago? Have you had one of those things? They're pretty awesome!

    Excuses.

Yes, yes it does make me happier. Bacon!

No. I don't approve of vegan foods.

    Depends on my mood.
But mostly I need to watch a couple of experienced people eat that type of food first.

They can always show you the best ways to eat it.

I have got to PM you Baraka_Guru, before I come up your way in May to find out where you had that donut! Every time you mention it, my mouth waters!

Hey man, in north North America, those ARE exotic foods.

I'll try anything once. I am not a picky eater.

Any of those is a good reason for me to try something. :)

Seahorse on a stick doesn't look very appealing. Dress it up a little prettier and I'd try it.

"Yeah, I ate it... and I didn't even know her name."

    ...

Danger is my trade! I'm willing to eat just about anything aside from most fast food. Bugs don't gross me out too much provided I can get rid of the dangerous parts (thorns, legs, etc.). Grubs are easy to eat; easier if you are eating them with something more familiar. Best way to get started on eating bugs, honestly. My culinary adventures in the military demonstrated how nearly anything can be consumed when covered with Tabasco.
